The Nation (11 April 2009: “Different worlds need different rules”) has a new article on cyber security citing Chiranuch Premchaiporn, recently arrested webmaster at Prachatai.
Chiranuch was arrested under the Computer Crimes Act. Her arrest is described in this way: “Not only was the raid on her office a nightmare, but it also taught her that liberty did not exist in reality or on cyberspace.”
The result is: “Inevitably, cyber-society is getting fearful, and bloggers are subconsciously censoring themselves.”
Chiranuch claims that “freedom is just an illusion.”
