Kasit, Sondhi, PAD and politics
Associated Press carries a report of Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya’s talk at the Asia Society. Ever the diplomat, Kasit accuses Thaksin Shinawatra of a direct role in the botched assassination attempt on PAD leader Sondhi Limthongkul. As the report opines, “He did not elaborate or provide any evidence.” Thaksin or his supporters might indeed have been involved, but this would be an allegation at this point. But Kasit is at war, so this is expected: “If there is ‘fighting to the death,’ he added, then ‘several of us would go to the ashes’.”
We recall that Prime Minister Abhisit Vejajjiva withstood criticism of his appointment of PAD rallier Kasit as foreign minister. Now Kasit explains: that Sondhi “was supposed to have lunch with me at noon, but he was shot before.”
