The 2006 coup and happiness

It is impossible to neglect this gem from The Nation (22 September 2009: “Coup made people happy: Sonthi”) citing 2006 coup leader General Sonthi Boonyaratglin. He seems to believe that the “power seizure in 2006 brought about the people’s happiness although certain political issues persisted til the present…”. Either Sonthi is joking or he is referring to the “people” as being those who wanted the coup. The latter hardly bears stating.

At least we know the military are happy with their vastly increased budgets. For the last addition see The Nation, 22 September 2009: “Military on the Bt10 billion shopping spree”) which has them getting another 10 billion baht.
