Update: ABC News reports that four people have been arrested and “are likely to face charges under Thailand’s computer-related crimes act.” It says they are also “being investigated for possible securities violations.”
In an article in the Bangkok Post (29 October 2009: “Finance Ministry to control share trading by govt officials”) suggesting that the government is demanding changes at the Stock Exchange of Thailand following the king death rumors, and comments by Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij that government officials need to have their trading controlled, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva claims that “he had been advised police will charge four people with spreading the rumours about the King’s health which led to the massive stock sell-off.” But then he adds: “The authorities will go ahead with laying the charges when they have enough information.”
