Updated: Bomb at PAD rally

May 31, 2011

The Nation reports that a bomb was thrown and exploded at the People’s Alliance for Democracy rally in Bangkok. Three people were reportedly injured.

There seems little reason for an attack on PAD at this point, especially as its rally has limited support.  A PAD spokesman states that it has something to do with opposing PAD’s no-vote campaign. Given that the campaign apparently has little impetus, this explanation seems wanting. As the report states: “The PAD’s campaigns for voters to say no to the election by marking the ‘no-voting’ slot on ballot papers faded out from public attention since the first day of candidacy registration.”

Update: Pictures and video at The Thai Report.
