More impunity

The War on Drugs was a heinous period in Thaksin Shinawatra’s term of government. Urged on by the palace, Thaksin declared war on drug users and dealers. That led to some 1,800 deaths above the trend rate for murders in Thailand. These were extra-judicial murders.
Little has been done to bring the state perpetrators of these murders to account. Read the Bangkok Post today on the slapped wrists for police who murdered a young boy when targeting his mother for extra-judicial murder. Horrendous stuff.
