The Music Industry News Network reports that Thailand’s little-known royal granddaughter, Princess Siribhachudhabhorn, has been rebuffed by a “legendary” band she wanted to perform privately for her and her friends at her birthday party.
Siribhachudhabhorn is one of the offspring of the failed marriage between Princess Chulabhorn and commoner Virayudh Tishyasarin, who was, for a time, an air force officer (see here and search for his name). Siribhachudhabhorn who lived with her father overseas for some time, appeared in public rarely but some years ago appeared influenced by Goth sub-culture.
The relevant parts of the report follows:
Praga Khan founder of the legendary Belgian dance-industrial group Lords of Acidhave been asked to perform at the birthday party for HRH Princess Siribhachudhabhorn (born October 8 1982) of the Thai Royal Family.
“At first I thought it was a joke, but when I discovered they were serious I was left speechless”, Praga Khan explains. “Needless to say we were flattered to receive the invitation and ecstatic about the possibility of playing at a Princess’ birthday”.
Khan admitted that the band were offered a generous amount of money to perform a 45 minutes live concert in a Bangkok nightclub. “Unfortunately, due to the tight recording schedule for the new album, we had to refuse the invitation” he continued.
PPT can only guess that the royal post-industrial/techno fan was disappointed that she couldn’t get her private concert even for a “generous amount of money.” No doubt the mammoth and deadly floods did not prevent the princess from having a lavish and expensive party.
