The Roi-et serial lese majeste charger

December 29, 2011

PPT is late to this one, and we imagine that many readers will have seen it at Prachatai. The people at Prachatai have found that lese majeste “charges have been filed by a Prachatai reader and information from the police reveals that he has filed lèse majesté charges against at least 15 people based on comments on three articles on Prachatai,” and found that charges have been laid against these people, “including other Prachatai comment users and the Prachatai webmaster and editor.” All charges are laid at the Roi-et police station and by a person who can only be seen as a serial complainer on lese majeste. Prachatai has all the details and Bangkok Pundit has an excellent comment.

While at the Bangkok Pundit site look at the post there on  Attaporn Ponlaboot, who is the Democrat Party’s yellow-shirted deputy spokesperson on Nitirat and his fascist-like statement that these people, who think differently from him, should be made non-citizens. PPT doesn’t use the term fascist much, but Attaporn looks like he needs such a moniker and would probably be proud of it.

For some more classic yellow shirtism from Attaporn, try his earlier rebuttal of Nitirat: “The proposal by Nitirat to nullify any action by [the coupmakers] is just an academic smokescreen aimed at helping to whitewash Thaksin’s wrongdoings…”. In the best yellow shirt fashion he says “the way to prevent future coups – the stated goal of Nitirat – would be to create a political system that is honest and benefits the Thai people as a whole.” Further, yellow-speak follows:

Just a few years before the coup of September 19, 2006, there was severe corruption on the part of evil capitalists who benefited from selling the country’s concessions and interfering with independent organisations. That was the real cause of the coup. If you can’t stop the evil capitalists, you won’t stop coups from happening….

That is People’s Alliance for Democracy circa January 2006. Attaporn is clearly a person with strong but seriously dangerous political views.
