Royalist Tul speaks
In a recent article at The Nation, Pravit Rojanaphruk referred to an interview with the very yellow royalist Tul Sittisomwong. PPT went in search of the article at BK Magazine.
The interview with Tul begins: “The Multicolor Shirts are back on the streets, and BK chats with their leader, Chulalongkorn medical instructor Dr. Tul Sittisomwong about teaching, death and splitting from the PAD.”
Of course, the idea that Tul ever truly split from the yellow shirts is untrue. Here is what he says:
I joined the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) after seeing wide corruption in Thaksin’s government. But I left the PAD in 2010 when I felt that we had different political standpoints.
He then adds:
I created the Multicolor Shirts movement because no one stepped up to express what we think.
As can be seen, there is no statement of what kind of political ideology is involved. The “split” is a tactical “split.”
He says he hates Thaksin and that he lacks the full support of his family, adding that “they can’t stop me either.” Tul worried that “our children” will “be slaves to a few politicians’ families.”
Finally Tul procalims that he is “not afraid of going to jail, if found guilty for the airport’s occupation. I can sacrifice myself because I know I did it for my country.”
