Zen Journalist Andrew MacGregor Marshall is doing some fabulous archive digs, and he has a recent post that deserves attention. King Ananda’s death: testimony of Kenneth Landon includes an interview – oral history – from former missionary and U.S. government operative Landon, who had a huge influence on U.S. policy to Thailand around WW2 and into the 1950s.
These are reminiscences, and in one, Landon refers to King Ananda Mahidol being “murdered” and in another states rather casually, as if a matter of fact, that the king was: “killed by his brother, either intentionally or accidentally, by the gun the OSS guy had given them to play with.”
Readers will find Marshall’s post of great interest.
