PPT posted previously about the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) being requested to take over 5 criminal cases. It is reported in The Nation (23 July 2009: “DSI to take over Kalasin police killing, lese majeste cases”) that the DSI executive board has now agreed. This board is referred to as a committee later in the short report.
The Nation reports that the “committee, made up of key figures in national security and headed by Deputy Premier Suthep Thaugsuban, made its decisions yesterday morning. All members refused to talk to the media and left Government House immediately after the meeting.”
Under previous governments, there had been allegations that the supposedly independent and respected DSI was being politicized. It seems the Democrat Party-led government is little different.
