The anti-Thaksin media at work

23 08 2011

In our previous post, we mentioned that the anti-Thaksin Shinawatra media was already hard at work supporting the Democrat Party and others in working against the new government. Don’t get us wrong, we are not expecting the media to be tame and supportive of the Yingluck Shinawatra government. However, it is also worth watching how there is an anti-Thaksin media that will always work assiduously to support the opposition political actions. Their reporting needs to be considered carefully, as one would consider the biases of say, the Murdoch press or Fox News.

Here’s a great example of how the anti-Thaksin media works. This is the headline picture at The Nation’s web site story on Yingluck’s policy statement.

Clearly, the message is that Yingluck is transmitting the words of Thaksin. There’s nothing in the story about this as we write (7:23PM GMT), so this is a bit of image-manipulation to convey an anti-Thaksin/anti-government message that is in line with the claims of the Democrat Party and the People’s Alliance for Democracy.

We wonder if The Nation is monitoring PPT and will change it?
