Puppets and the need to cut strings

22 09 2011

In the Bangkok Post: “The assignment given to cabinet members of the Pheu Thai Party by former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra yesterday via a Skype internet conference showed clearly that Yingluck Shinawatra is just a puppet prime minister, opposition chief whip Jurin Laksanawisit said on Thursday.”

This is a line the Democrat Party uses, but doesn’t shine the same light on its own leadership that was under the wing of Prem Tinsulanonda and the palace, not to mention the military.

PPT would like to see the Democrat Party be as critical of its own past and its puppet-like status. If it doesn’t acknowledge its failures, then it can’t move forward. Given Abhisit Vejjajiva’s stubbornness and view that he is never wrong, moving on is almost impossible. Moving back is more likely.
