PPT blocked (again)

14 01 2012

2Bangkok.com posts that PPT is blocked. Readers might note that the only serious effort to block PPT came during the period of intense action by the Abhisit Vejjajiva government against red shirts. Back then, PPT established a kind of mirror site where we posted bare bones stories cut-and-pasted from our main site.

We hadn’t noticed that we are again blocked in Thailand. We’d appreciate it if readers can email us of their experience.

We think the blocking is very spotty and that some ISPs do it sometimes but not always. We have generally found that the use of “https://” gets around spotty blocking. Otherwise, a proxy server like cooloo or TurboHide works.

PPT can’t think why we would be blocked at present. We haven’t been posting anything other than material freely available at news sources within Thailand. But perhaps, if we are being more carefully blocked it has to do with the additional budget assigned to the thought police by the Yingluck Shinawatra government.
