Suthep spits on Tharit

26 05 2012

We do not wish to detail the story, but in case readers missed it, a story at the Bangkok Post deserves attention. Democrat Party MP, former deputy premier and formerly in charge of seeking out opponents to have locked up as political prisoners Suthep Thaugsuban:

“has asked the National Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate Tarit Pengdith, director-general of the Department of Special Investigation and his deputy for dropping anti-monarchy and lese majeste cases.

The Democrat Party is playing catch-up on lese majeste as the Puea Thai Party’s conversion/return to royalism has undermined the Democrat Party’s political use of monarchy and monarchism. (That’s the best we can say of the Puea Thai sellout).

Suthep has accused Tharit and a deputy of:

dereliction of duty for dropping a case against a suspected anti-monarchy movement and a case of alleged offence to the monarchy by former Pheu Thai Party MP and red shirt leader Jatuporn Prompan regarding a speech Mr Jatuporn delivered on April 10, 2010.

Suthep rightly points out that Tharit “had held many press conferences and confirmed that there was an anti-monarchy movement supported by financiers and it intended to change the government of the nation.”

He sees Tharit as a slippery and political eel. He is.

Of course, the charges dropped were all nonsense items made up by the military and Suthep in order to punish opponents. So it is the pot calling the kettle black.

Interesting, like a dog at a bone,  is Suthep claims that the DSI decision “affected the honour of the royal institution.”

[…] That “investigator” is the eel himself, the former DSI boss, Tharit. Since the 2014 coup, the junta, royalists and the elite have vigorously gone after Tharit for his perceived betrayals. […]
