Queen’s health

4 12 2012

While the king has decided to emerge from hospital for another foray into politics, “love” and “loyalty,” the Bangkok Post reports that the queen will not accompany him. This is said to be “on the advice of her doctors.”

The Royal Household Bureau issued the announcement with the queen still in Siriraj Hospital, where she has been since her stroke – or, in the language of the palace, “a shortage of blood to her brain.” Every single report on her health has since stated that the queen is making a remarkable recovery.Queen

The latest statement, in the usual opaque style of the Royal Household Bureau, states her “condition has improved continuously and she has successfully been undergoing physical therapy. However, the queen is not yet fully recovered…”.

Well, this report, like the previous reports, would seem to be exaggerations given that she suffered her health crisis on 21 July this year. So more than four months of nothing but great recovery either means the Bureau is fudging or the initial event was very serious and they are covering that up.

The current reports states that the queen attending the “birthday on Dec 5, as it could put a strain on Her Majesty’s health and disrupt the overall recovery progress,” suggesting, again, that she remains in fragile health. Truth and reporting royals seem separate domains.
