Updated: Protesting the coup

In Hong Kong, Hong Kong-based and regional labor and progressive trades union, youth groups and NGOs. The groups submitted a protest statement to the representative of the Thailand consulate stating they strongly support the struggle of Thai citizens against the military junta, and demanded the following:

– The military junta must immediately stop the arbitrary detention of all human rights defenders.HK

– The military junta must abolish Lèse Majesté and immediately release all political detainees held under this charge, as well as other prisoners of conscience.

– The military junta must guarantee freedom of the media and allow the free expression of all citizens.

– The military junta must assure freedom of assembly and the right to protest.

– That sovereignty belongs to Thai citizens. The military junta must immediately transfer power to a democratic and elected civil government.
