Khaosod reports that Suchin Sukprasert, a radio DJ, had his motorcycle impounded as evidence in a traffic accident. It has now been stolen from the police station’s impound lot. Not real news you might think. After all, cops take things all the time. But this response from the police drew our attention:
“We are urgently working to locate and arrest the perpetrator,” Pol.Col. Montri said. “And if it’s possible, please do not report about it, because this news does not benefit anyone.”
That seems to be the official view on all news. Only pro-junta, “positive” and news that does not embarrass the authorities is real news in the military dictatorship’s Thailand.
