Rewarding cops I

The police seemed pretty amazed that they have found a suspect in the Bangkok bombings. After all, the cops are pretty hopeless investigators.

In the moneySo amazed, and so pleased that they get some good press, that The Nation has reported that the 3 million baht reward “offered for information leading to the capture of any bombing suspects would be given to the police team…”. That’s according to Police Chief Somyos Pumpanmuang.

Startlingly, the report states: “It is unclear whether the landlady who owned the apartment where the suspect was captured and phoned in her suspicions will receive any money.”

PPT doesn’t know much about police and rewards offered to the public, but the cops rewarding themselves seems odd to us. But, then, this is Thailand under the military dictatorship.
