Corruption Park has been the subjects of several junta “investigations.” None of them has gone far in admitting to finding even the corruption at Rajabhakti Park admitted to by junta member and former army chief General Udomdej Sitabutr.
This is not a surprise as the military junta has been keen to avoid this issue. Its determination to silence Corruption Park critics has seen several arrests, sedition charges and several civilians and military men rushing to leave the country.
In the latest “investigation,” The Nation reports that the “Defence Ministry panel looking into the Rajabhakti Park scandal says it has no plans to release its investigation results to the public.” The Ministry has also declared that it will not “submit the results [of its “investigation”] to the Office of the Auditor-General (OAG), which is also [said to be] investigating alleged corruption when the park was built.”
The Dictator’s brother, the ministry’s permanent secretary General Preecha Chan-ocha declares that his “investigation” is “not about nailing down culprits…”.
He did not explain what his ministry’s “investigation” is doing, which seems to involve only covering up and whitewashing.
Update: Readers will find this snip from the Daily News of interest, stating that the Rajabhakdi Park is under the patronage of Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn.
