It wasn’t China!

Somewhat belatedly, Thai police have now contradicted earlier claims (some from police) that Joshua Wong was deported at the behest of the junta’s authoritarian allies in Beijing.

duncePrachatai reports that Police Deputy Commissioner General Sriwara Rangsipramanakul stated “that the detention of 19-year-old student activist Joshua Wong, a key leader of Hong Kong’s Umbrella Movement and Secretary-General of the Demosistō Party, is purely a judgment of Thailand’s Immigration Office…”.

If these dunces had said this from the start, PPT would have believed them. They came up with the China claims themselves. Then, again, it is possible that the police were ordered to make such statements by the junta after the original statements became embarrassing for the two authoritarian regimes.

The police boss turned ludicrous mouthpiece for belated claims “said the Hong Kong activist might incite conflict within the country and can be deemed a threat to Thailand’s national security.”
We don’t doubt that this was indeed a motivation for the ridiculous and repressive junta. But they are so slow that they didn’t have an initial propaganda statement ready for public announcement.
