After numerous social media shares, Khaosod has picked up the story of a man in Yasothorn who posted a video on Facebook, declaring that social welfare cards and membership of the junta’s own Palang Pracharath Party were twinned.
According to Khaosod’s report, “Kiatburut Panlert, who alleged that recipients of state welfare cards must also sign up for a pro-junta party, was taken to a police station and briefed by security officers before he was released the same day…”.
Local officials stumbled and bumbled:
In a statement, the Loeng Nok Tha district office said Kiatburut initially received a complaint from an elderly woman who wanted to sign up for a welfare card but ended up at the nearby Palang Pracharat booth by mistake.
Party staff then misunderstood the woman’s intention and gave her the registration form, the statement said.
That sounds likely, right? There’s a Palang Pracharath booth just near the welfare card booth. How’s that happen?
Red shirt leader Jatuporn Prompan had it right when he observed:
All the state functions seem to willingly facilitate convenience for Palang Pracharat Party’s political activities in many steps…. But personally I think it’s good they are being obvious about it, because it will be easy for the public to make decisions.
Bags of money, cheating, fleecing the taxpayer and more, and the official campaign hasn’t even begun!
