Jamroen S.

112Jamroen S. is a 59 year-old civil servant who was arrested in early January by the military and police, accused of lese majeste and computer-related crimes.

He was arrested for Facebook messages he allegedly sent to another lese majeste detainee, Pongsak S. The two are accused of being a part of a “movement” against the monarchy. There is no evidence for this claim.

The police accused Jamroen of using the Facebook profile Uncha Unyo to “post and share [allegedly] lese majeste materials.”

Jamroen is alleged to have admitted that he shared the alleged lese majeste content online for a year. It is alleged that he compiled and then provided the lese majeste content to Pongsak through Facebook messaging. Pongsak would then allegedly modify the content for posting on Facebook.

Jamroen claimed the messages were merely an exchange of views about politics such as complaining to Pongsak about the anti-democratic People’s Democratic Reform Committee “and sometimes touched upon the monarchy…”.

Media accounts of Jamroen’s case:

Prachatai, 28 January 2015: “Personal Facebook messages lead to lèse majesté arrest
