Thai Lawyers for Human Rights reports that on 26 January 2024, the Southern Bangkok Criminal Court considered an application to rescind bail for Netiporn Sanesangkhom or Bung and Tantawan Tuatulanon.

The case against Tantawan was rejected. However, bail for Bung was revoked.

Police Captain Sarawut Chankhieo was the complainant and he claims to have seen the two with those organizing activities in front of the Ministry of Culture on 8 February 2022, having marched from Paragon Mall.  The protest at the Ministry of Culture demanded the removal of rightist Naowarat Phongpaiboon from being a national artist.

There was, the policeman attested, spray painting and setting off fireworks in front of the ministry. His evidence was that Bung spray-painted the Queen’s flag. and the court considered this caused damage to the monarchy and was a violation of bail conditions.

The court therefore ordered the revocation of bail for Netiporn.

After listening to the court’s order Bung consulted with a lawyer and decided not to apply for bail. Bung was taken to the Central Women’s Prison.
