Royalists rejoice?

A quick look at royalist social media risks nausea but does suggest that, after three more of those uppity youngsters identified as anti-monarchy were sentenced on lese majeste charges. They cheer this and tick off another strike against the ever-popular reformers at the Move Forward Party.

When it comes to the international headlines (see below for just one page of a Google search) about the seemingly never-ending campaign by the royalist regime to expunge anti-monarchism, we see comments about the “uniqueness” of Thailand.

As much as it might seem to be wishful thinking, PPT perceives desperation amongst the old guard. Change on the monarchy is seen not just in the determined support for Move Forward, but in a generation that is either angry or just desperate for reform. Even some rightists are moving and questioning blunt political repression on behalf of the monarchy.
