Prachatai reports that Kittiphong Chuanwanphen, 45, a clothing vendor living in Bangkok, has fallen victim to the serial royalist snitch Songchai Niamhom, a reprehensible person, claiming membership of the ultra-royalist King Protection Group. His complaint was made on 10 June 2025. Dutifully, the judicial system has had Kittiphong charged under Article 112 and the Computer Crimes Act over two Facebook posts.

As is the detestable Songchai’s pattern in a large number of complaints, he filed this complaint in Surat Thani. By doing this, he seeks to punish the defendant by making him have to travel long distances for legal proceedings. According to TLHR, Songchai has made at least 19 complaints, mainly about 112.

Kittiphong was arrested in Bangkok on 12 June, while at a restaurant. He did not receive a summons before being arrested.

The charges against him reportedly relate to two Facebook posts made in March and April 2025, “in which he criticised ultra-royalists for not speaking out against the King’s trips to Germany.”

Kittiphong was held in police custody and later taken to the Chai Buri Provincial Police Station in Surat Thani. On 13 June he was notified of the charges and questioned and detained for another night before being taken to court on 14 June. He was granted bail on a 100,000-baht security but was “required to report to the Court every 12 days…”. He was indicted on 5 September 2025.

The public prosecutor stated that the Facebook posts “were considered defamatory and undermined the King himself.” As is the norm in royalist Thailand, the prosecutor opposed bail “given that the case constituted a high penalty and he might pose a flight risk.” The court, however, granted “provisional bail with the same amount of security, with the condition that he is prohibited from committing the same act he was charged with.”
