The Nation reports on the appointment by Thammanat Prompao and his Kla Tham Party of “the lawyer of controversial South African businessman Benjamin Mauerberger, known as Ben Smith…”. This is an official political appointment.
Criticism led Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to “clarify” how “Thanadol Suwannarit, Mauerberger’s personal lawyer, had been appointed as a political official due to a decision by the Kla Tham Party, a coalition partner.”

How high?
Anutin wriggled about a bit, “explaining” that Thanadol “was appointed as a political official by the Kla Tham Party, not by him…”.
The Prime Minister of the gangster government said “he had to respect the decision made by his coalition partner.” He bleated: “I didn’t appoint him; it’s a matter for the coalition partner. A coalition partner has the right to select their own people to work. This is a principle of working together and mutual respect among coalition partners…”.
Seriously? Does Thammanat really have support and protection from the very highest level? Is this why people are asking questions about how high the scam billions go?
Anutin’s statement sounds like mafia bosses dividing up a territory among themselves.
He really can’t wriggle out of responsibility for the appointment as “the Cabinet approved a proposal from the Prime Minister’s Secretariat to appoint Thanadol as a political official attached to the Secretariat.”
