Incompetence, negligence, spinelessness and murder I

It has become clearer now that Netiporn Sanesangkhom’s death was probably a combination of royalist venom, government spinelessness, and “medical” negligence and incompetence.

The royalists – including judges – wanted to punish her as an example to all those who might oppose the monarchy.

Clipped from Prachatai

The Puea Thai party and its government could have intervened to ensure she was treated properly or even bailed – after all, they did this for their boss, Thaksin Shinawatra. He got a “gold card” and didn’t spend a night in prison, and he’s also facing lese majeste charges.

The negligence and incompetence of the so-called hospital (mis)managed by the Department of Corrections is reported to have forced an endotracheal tube into her esophagus instead of her windpipe. Krisadang Nutcharus, Netiporn’s lawyer, says “even medical students don’t do this…”.

He added: “If the court had granted her bail, Bung would not be dead. A lot of people have to be held responsible…”.

They should be held responsible. But in royalist Thailand, with a record of impunity for murderous officials, sadly this seems unlikely.
