No king stuff for a while

1 05 2020

We are PPT have talked about possible reasons for the regime extending the emergency decree when virus cases remain low. Obviously Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha and his military men far prefer “governing” with extraordinary powers. But we hadn’t thought about the role of the (missing) king.

Creepy Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam, himself facing allegations of abuse of power, announced that the royal ploughing ceremony on May 11 has been cancelled as a public event. He didn’t say that the king wouldn’t be involved in the private ceremony, but that seems clear. Nor would Coronation Day and Visakha Bucha Day be celebrated. Again, the unsaid bit is that this is because the king is in Germany and now refusing to return to Thailand, preferring his harem.

We are guessing and betting that he might come back in June.
