Facebook 112 gets prison

23 02 2026

Prachatai reports that on 19 February 2026, Singto (pseudonym), a 28 year-old from Mukdahan had a 112 sentence of 1 year and 6 months in prison confirmed by the Appeals Court.

The complaint was filed by Thitiwat Tanagaroon, a mad royalist, over a comment under a Facebook post featuring a picture of King Vajiralongkorn and his son Prince Dipangkorn.

Ultra-royalist Thitiwat, has made several 112 complaints and has been “praised by the King while waiting with a crowd near the Grand Palace on 23 October 2020.”

Singto was first arrested on 7 December 2022 on a warrant issued by the Nonthaburi Provincial Court. He initially denied the charges but later agreed to plead guilty. On 27 November 2023, he was sentenced to 3 years in prison, reduced by half for his guilty plea. He made bail pending appeal.

The Appeals Court upheld the verdict and sentence. It ruled that the Facebook comment was “damaging towards the monarchy, and that his sentence should not be reduced or suspended because he has an undergraduate degree and should be mature enough to know better.”

Singto’s lawyer filed for bail to the Supreme Court, pending appeal, but this was refused. He is now jailed at the Nonthaburi Provincial Prison.
